Description

Cupid or threatening Cupid.
Statue in the image of Cupid represented undressed, standing slightly swaying, against a tree trunk.
His curly hair is held by a ribbon, he is equipped with his quiver held over the shoulder.
In Roman mythology Cupid, son of Venus and Mars, is the god of love.
He is the very devoted servant of his mother as can be seen in the myth of Psyche.
Cupid is equated with the god Eros who seems to be his Greek representation.
Cupid is often represented in the form of an angel.
His attributes are a bow, a quiver, a flower and wings.
With his bow, he sends arrows supposed to represent the points of desire in the hearts of gods and men.
Curved cylindrical base decorated with garlands of fruits and drooping flowers.
Missing a wing and the little finger of the left hand.
Composite stone.
